Cleaning stone tombstones and monuments helps maintain a cemetery as well as better commemorate those who have passed.There are many ways to clean stone headstones and monuments.Here's a more effective approach, but it takes energy and persistence.Remember to wear clothes that are not afraid of dirt.

Step 1

Remove garnishes from tombstones such as flowers, wreaths, or pictures.Dip the brush into the water to saturate the bristles.Start at the top of the headstone or marker, allowing the liquid to drip off the top and gently scrub with a brush.We're going in circles.

Step 2

Add a cup of non-ionic solution to a bucket of water and mix with a brush.Soak the brush in the saturated solution and gently scrub the bottom half of the stone headstone.The sides and back of the stone gravestones are also cleaned.Repeat these steps twice.It takes time and patience.

Step 3

Rinse the stone gravestones with clean water several times and wipe them with an old towel or cloth.This will thoroughly remove any remaining dirt and the lingering smell of bleach.Dispose of debris around the tombstone and replace other decorations.
